Score in early offense off our break Motion. Precision, pace, and no excuses.

Words we live by · Work Ethic

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard — but the talent that works hard is unguardable.

Our Offensive Identity

THE BREAK

Every possession we get, we must try to score as soon as possible. We want a great shot within 5–7 seconds of gaining access to the ball. We run the break with precision and without excuse.

Early Offense Mentality

Primary Break

The break is designed for a quick score by creating scoring lanes and opportunities before the opposing defense can get set up. We spread the court by giving every player a job during the break.

Every winning team our staff has been a part of has been void of excuses and blame. You must be able to run the break and play multiple positions on the break.

The 5–7 Second Rule

To win at the level we want to win at, we should get a shot within 5–7 seconds of gaining access to the ball.

That means sprinting the lanes, making the right read early, and never settling for a slow, settled defense.

Great shot. Fast shot.

What Makes the Break Work

Get possession and push immediately.
Spread the floor with five lanes.
Sprint with purpose, not just speed.
Make the first pass up the court.
Read the lead runner, wings, and trailer.
Attack before the defense gets set.
Finish at the rim or kick for the open three.
No excuses — run it every possession.

Conditioning Is the Engine

To play man-to-man defense an entire game and run every position on the break, we must be in shape. We get in shape by running cycles at an extreme level during practice in preparation for the games.

If we run, then everyone will eat — and when everyone scores, the team is a motivated, locked-in group.

We have to decide in the first practices: will this group be able to defend and run the break?
