Welcome to a New School Year, Coyotes! 🐾
Happy first day of school, Coyotes! Today is Day 1, and I couldn't be more proud of each of you for choosing to be here. A new year means a fresh start — in the classroom, in the gym, and as a team. Remember to use every resource available to you on campus. Your professors, your counselors, the library, the tutoring center, the athletic trainer — they're all here for you. Don't wait until you're struggling to reach out. Champions use their resources early and often. Congratulations on getting through Day 1. Let's make this a great year — on the floor, in the classroom, and in the community. Leave it better than you found it. 💙 — Coach Wiley-Gatewood

☀️ Heat Illness Prevention Plan Activated
Good morning, team — With temperatures projected to reach 80°F or higher this week, the Heat Illness Prevention Plan is officially activated. Mandatory safety controls now in effect: • Hydration — Fresh, cool drinking water is available throughout campus. Drink at least 8 oz per hour. • Shade & Cooling Breaks — Shaded areas (outdoor crews) and climate-controlled/fan-cooled areas (indoor crews) are open. Take preventative cool-down rest breaks of no less than 5 minutes whenever you need them. • Buddy System — Actively monitor yourself and your teammates for warning signs of heat stress. Know the signs: • Heat Exhaustion (act quickly) — Heavy sweating, dizziness, headache, nausea, weakness, or muscle cramps. Move to a cool area, drink water, and notify a supervisor immediately. • Heat Stroke (medical emergency) — Confusion, fainting, slurred speech, hot/dry skin, or seizures. Call 911 immediately and cool the worker down with water or ice. Wear loose, light-colored, breathable clothing if your role permits. Questions or safety hazards — contact your supervisor immediately. Stay hydrated and stay safe, Angelo Pellegrini Associate Vice Chancellor – Facilities Planning, Public Safety & Risk Management 8800 Grossmont College Drive, El Cajon, CA 92020
