NO CATCH
We know an opponent will catch the basketball during a game. The goal is not that no one ever catches a pass — the goal is to make every catch difficult.
Our Defensive Identity
We will be primarily a man-to-man defensive team — approximately 95% man-to-man, with situational zone defenses available when needed.
Our defense will not simply be something we play. Defense will be part of who we are. The first thing opponents should feel against us is NO CATCH.
We want to become so good defensively that our defense powers our offense.
Every offensive player should have to work to
- Get open
- Create separation
- Receive a pass
- Get comfortable
- Enter their offense
We do not give away catches. We do not allow players to stand where they want, catch where they want, and comfortably begin their offense.
Make them earn every catch.
Pressure With Purpose
Many teams pressure simply for the sake of saying they pressure. That is not us. Every defensive action must accomplish something.
- Change where the offense wants to go
- Change when the offense wants to attack
- Take away comfortable passes
- Eliminate easy catches
- Eliminate easy shots
- Force difficult decisions
- Disrupt offensive timing
We do not waste energy. We use energy intelligently.
